Marshall also profiles many intriguing people who enlivened Seattle Public Library and its contributions to the city. Librarian Charles Wesley Smith withstood a charge that he set the Yesler mansion fire. Sculptor George Tsutakawa's first fountain, for Seattle's Central Library, led to scores of renowned fountains around the globe. Yesler branch librarian James Welch rescued a dying library in a black neighborhood with the help of activist Millie Russell. And maverickarchitect Rem Koolhaas won his important Seattle commission after a startling turnabout by library board members during a visit to Europe. "Place of Learning, Place of Dreams tells the human story of a beloved Seattle institution with drama, honesty, and flair.

Library Access to Music Project - The Library Access to Music Project (LAMP) is a free music library for MIT students started by Keith Winstein and Joshua Mandel, and funded by the MIT/Microsoft iCampus alliance. Originally launched on October 27, 2003, it has been in continuous operation since October 25, 2004.

Music Library Association - The Music Library Association, as stated on their website, was "founded in 1931, [and] is the professional organization in the United States devoted to music librarianship and all aspects of music materials in libraries."

Music libraries - There are five types of music libraries: (1) those developed to support research and performance departments of music in larger university or college settings; (2) those developed to support conservatories; (3) those housed within public libraries; (4) those developed as independent research libraries; and (5) special libraries supporting agencies such as National Public Library. The Music Library Association has information on music librarianship, including job postings.
